NEW CASTLE —
Who is looking forward to Friday, March 8?
March 8 is the opening day for "Oz the Great and Powerful," one of the most anticipated film releases of this year.
I am a little nervous to see the movie since I am a huge "Wizard of Oz" fan. I don't want to be disappointed.
But I have to say, I felt the same way when I headed to the theatre a few years ago to see a production of "Wicked," and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm hoping this experience will be the same.
In case you haven't heard much about "Oz the Great and Powerful," allow me to fill you in. The movie stars James Franco (of “Spider-Man” fame). Franco plays Oscar Diggs, a magician who finds himself in the fantasy Land of Oz. He is immediately considered by many to be a wizard, but three witches — Glinda, Theodora, and Evanora — aren't so sure.
As Oscar feels compelled to help the people of Oz solve the land's problems, he must find out who is on his side. Thus, he sets out on a journey to become the one and only Wizard of Oz!
The film is produced by Walt Disney Studios.

Courtney Caughey-Stambul: Latest ‘Oz’ indeed great and powerful
I stood in line at the movie theater on Friday night, waiting to see "Oz the Great and Powerful" in 3-D. It was the first time in a very long time that I actually had to wait in line to see a film. As I waited, the crowd and a life-sized poster of a wicked witch, her face slightly shadowed, added to my excitement leading up to the start of this movie.

I love when film critics, entertainment companies, movie sites — whomever — produce lists of their favorite all-time movies. I use MSN Entertainment to look up movie times online. The other day I was checking the site to see which theater in Boardman was going to show "Oz The Great and Powerful."
