League to meet
The League of Women Voters of Lawrence County will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Tuscany Square.
League members will review the organization’s history and programs.
Master gardener training planned
Penn State Extension is planning a master gardener training session for October. The program’s purpose is two-fold. One is to provide the opportunity to learn more about gardening.
Benefit set for missing woman
Family members and friends of Jessi M. Short will host a benefit dinner Saturday. Short, 26, went missing from her Shenango Township home in January and her mother, Linda Whitesell, has not heard from her since.
Office to be closed
The Union Township real estate tax office at 1910 Municipal Drive will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Historical society to honor volunteer chief
Anna Mary Mooney, Lawrence County Historical Society administrator, will be honored at the organization’s seventh annual membership and friends dinner.
Historical program to examine murder
Former FBI agent Jim Fisher will talk about a local murder case next weekend. The free program, which will begin at 7 p.m. Sept. 15, will be in the annex building of the Lawrence County Historical Society.
Workshops planned for local gardeners
There is still time to register for “New Visions for Gardening.” Sponsored by the Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County, the day-long series of workshops is set for Sept. 14.
Shenango schedules annual open house
Shenango High School will have its annual open house Tuesday. The event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Parents and guardians of students in grades seven through 12 are invited to attend.
IU IV offers GED prep courses
The Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV will offer adult basic education and GED preparation courses starting next week. The classes run from 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at the Sharon Middle/High School, 1129 E. State St.
Local extension office seeks master gardener applicants
Penn State Extension in Lawrence County is now accepting applications for the Master Gardener Program. Master gardeners are volunteers who support Penn State Extension’s educational programs in consumer horticulture.
