NEW CASTLE —
Agent Orange will be the topic of a program set for 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The two-hour program, sponsored by the county’s veterans affairs department, will be in the commissioners meeting room at the Lawrence County Courthouse.
Featured speaker will be Daniel Slack, Agent Orange coordinator for the Butler VA Medical Center.
Vietnam veterans, their widows or family members who suffer from multiple illnesses or who have a child or grandchild with a birth defect or illnesses can learn about certain illnesses associated with Agent Orange and other herbicides.

Memorial service scheduled
The annual Croton Memorial Service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Croton Honor Roll. U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly will be the guest speaker.

Lawrence County 4-H is starting a new bowling club. The club is open to beginning bowlers or those who have bowling expertise.

Mixer planned to meet candidates for primary
The Lawrence County Young Republicans will have a meet-the-candidates mixer in anticipation of the May 21 primary. The session will begin at 7 p.m. Monday at the Crane Room, 3009 Wilmington Road.

Shenango class to hold luncheon
Shenango High School’s class of 1962 will meet for lunch Thursday. The group will gather at 1 p.m. at Chuck Tanner’s Restaurant.

Historical society features CCC
America’s Civilian Conservation Corps, “the tree soldiers,” turns 80 this year. In celebration of this milestone, the CCC will be featured at Wednesday’s meeting of the Lawrence County Historical Society.

Mahoning Township to conduct cleanup
Mahoning Township has scheduled a spring cleanup for this month. Items will be picked up during the weeks of May 6 and 13. Residents are to place all items at curbside on the day before their scheduled collection only.
