Shale royalty meeting for landowners planned

NEW CASTLE — Lawrence County residents who have questions about royalties on gas drilling leases are invited to a meeting tomorrow.

Bradford County dairy farmers Carol French and Carolyn Knapp will meet with interested landholders from 1 to 4 p.m. at Ryder’s Restaurant, 936 Route 18, New Wilmington.

The two women are co-founders of the Pennsylvania Landowners Group for Awareness and Solutions and live in a heavily fracked county in the largest shale extraction zone in the United States.

Landholders should take copies of their leases if they have specific questions.

French and Knapp also are scheduled to speak at a community meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. tomorrow at Villa Maria on Evergreen Road in Pulaski Township. That meeting will address various aspects of unconventional gas wells.
