Union Township to collect bagged leaves

NEW CASTLE — The Union Township supervisors will collect the bagged leaves from township residences.

Leaves are not to be mixed with trash, and any type of bag may be used.

Residents should place bagged leaves at the curbside and contact call the municipal building during working hours at (724) 658-7921.

The supervisors before their meeting this week conducted two hearings.

They approved the request of Brent Matis for a 50-foot side yard addition. Matis owns the storage sheds behind the business plaza at 2021 W. State St. He had purchased property from plaza owner Michael Mansour.

The supervisors also approved a resolution requested by Lawrence County Economic Development Corp. to renew the township’s status in the Lawrence County Keystone Communities Enterprise Zone.

Union is one of several municipalities in the zone. Its designated area in the zone is along Route 422.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
