Workshop to review green building efforts

NEW CASTLE — Unexpectedly Green is the name of a workshop set for May 31.

A Green Building Alliance workshop, the half-day event will examine the vegetated roofs at the Human Services Center.

Since the mid 1990s, the center — a comprehensive mental health clinic — has implemented a variety of green initiatives and is becoming one of the region’s greenest and award-winning organizations.

The program will be led by Chris Dorman, manager of GreenGrid green roof systems at Weston Solutions.

Included will be an overview of vegetated roofs, their benefits in reducing stormwater run-off and lowered energy costs as well as details regarding their upkeep and maintenance.

The program — which starts at 9 a.m. and concludes at noon — will include a tour of the green-grid roof at the agency’s Fisher Building.

Registration is available by contacting Susan Palumbo at (724) 658-3578, extension 105.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
