Fireworks Festival to include Lego building contest

NEW CASTLE — The Lawrence County Builders Association will be participating in the Fireworks Festival again this year.

The association will sponsor a Lego Building Contest from noon to 5 p.m. July 12. There is no entry fee but pre-registration is encouraged.

Prizes will be awarded in three age categories. They are 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12. Contestants must be appropriate age by July 12.

Tables, chairs and Lego bricks will be provided for the contestants. Children are not permitted to take any additional Legos to use.

By signing up for the competition, adults are providing the Lawrence County Builders Association the right to use the child’s picture, name and age in advertisements, announcements and press releases of this event.

The schedule is:

•Ages 4, 5 and 6 — Registration from noon to 12:30 p.m. followed by building from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m.

•Ages 7, 8 and 9 — Registration from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m.; building from 2:15 to 3 p.m.

•Ages 10, 11 and 12 — Registration from 3:30 to 4 p.m.; building from 4 to 4:45 p.m.

Those wishing to pre-register a child may go to www.lawrencecountybuilders.com and access the registration form. The form can be emailed to lawrencecountybuilders@yahoo.com or sent by mail to LCBA, 1435 Devils Elbow Road New Castle, Pa. 16101. Participants will be notified by mail of confirmation of registration.

Any child not pre-registered will be allowed to participate if there are still seats available. These will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
