Comcast Cares Day to aid local charity

NEW CASTLE — Comcast employees will spend a day assisting a local charity.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County will be the recipient of support April 26 from Comcast Cares Day.

Employees and family members will work on landscaping and painting at the agency’s office at 602 Court St.

This is the 13th year for Comcast Cares Day, conducted in April in recognition of National Volunteer Month. The nationwide event is considered to be the largest single-day corporate volunteer effort in the United States.

This year, Comcast expects more than 80,000 Comcast and NBCUniversal volunteers to participate in more than 700 projects. To date, more than a half-million volunteers have contributed more than three million volunteer hours since the event began in 2001.

“We’re proud to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lawrence County to improve the New Castle community during our 13th Comcast Cares Day,” said Jim Samaha, senior vice president of Comcast’s Keystone Region.

“The hard work of our volunteers who will be donating their time to help make such a big difference in the lives of others is inspiring, and I am thankful to all of our participants who are helping to make the day a success.”

The Comcast Foundation also will provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of everyone who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day.

Do you talk to yourself when you're alone?

Yes, but I’m basically just thinking out loud.
No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
