NEW CASTLE —
New Castle’s annual Light Up Night has been set for Nov. 14.
Festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with entertainment and vendors opening.
An hour later, the parade will start to form on the Columbus Innerbelt, and at 7 p.m., the parade will step off at the intersection of West Washington Street the innerbelt. Fireworks will follow immediately after the parade’s conclusion.
Preparations are under way for the parade. Those wishing to participate should contact Cassandra List at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce by calling (724) 654-5593 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a spot in the line-up.
The deadline to enter is Nov. 5.
Opportunities also are available for vendors, sponsors and volunteer entertainment.
As in previous years, the following rules are in force to make the parade safe and enjoyable:
•No semi-trucks (unless pulling a float)
•All vehicles must be decorated
•Nothing may be thrown from vehicles. Candy may be handed out by walkers along the parade route.
•Fire and police departments must be pre-registered and they are limited to one firetruck or rescue vehicle per department. Excessive siren blowing is forbidden and departments must limit sirens to short bursts.
•No Santa Claus suits are allowed. The official Santa will be the last entry in the parade.
