Agriculture businesses can get drought aid

NEW CASTLE — Federal economic injury disaster loans are available to businesses engaged in agriculture in Lawrence County.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has announced availability of the loans to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private non-profit organizations as a result of the drought and excessive heat this year.

Loans can be up to $2 million at interest rates of 3 percent for non-profit organizations and 4 percent for small businesses for terms up to 30 years.

Applications can be submitted online at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.

Information and application forms can be obtained by calling SBA’s customer service center at (800) 659-2955. The deaf or hard-of-hearing can call (800) 877-8339. Emails also can be sent to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

The application deadline is May 6.
