NEW CASTLE — An appeal is planned in the homicide case of Jordan Brown.
Defense attorney Dennis Elisco confirmed Friday that an appeal will be made, claiming a lack of evidence.
The announcement followed a disposition hearing for Jordan Friday morning in Lawrence County court. The hearing was the equivalent of a sentencing for a juvenile.
Details of the hearing and the determinations by Judge John Hodge were not made public.
Jordan was found responsible April 13 by Hodge in the shooting death of Kenzie Houk in February of 2009 in their New Beaver borough home. She was the fiancee of Jordan's father and was nearly nine months pregnant at the time of the shooting.
Under state law, Jordan can be held until age 21. But his status is reviewed every six months to assess any progress.
