Sarah Stright-Hartley: I’ve got a new job and that means new clothes — yay!
On Monday I started a new job with a local company after almost two years of searching. This was cause for celebration for many reasons:
Kali Davies-Anderson: Believe it or not, my pregnacy shape is worthy of Bikini Bottom
There are so many miracles associated with pregnancy. Internal organs shift to accommodate the growing baby, bodily functions carry on as usual, despite what eventually becomes a 7 or 8 (or in my case 10 or 11) pound foreign object lodged within the abdominal cavity. Even bones shift in preparation for birth.
Your Community: Volunteers remove fallen tree, rubble from section of Greenwood Cemetery
Greenwoood Cemetery on Burke Street is New Castle’s oldest cemetery. For years, it has lain in disrepair and disarray. Vandals have damaged stones. Grass has remained uncut. In a much publicized break-in, someone entered a mausoleum, broke open the compartments and removed the remains from their final resting places.
Mitchel Olszak: Kelly, allies battle arms treaty
Supporters of the right to bear arms have a champion in Congressman Mike Kelly. The federal lawmaker, whose district includes most of Lawrence County, has been making waves with his criticism of the Obama administration and its support for the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
Culinary Conversation: This week, we’re rolling in dough
I sense a trend going on this week. Sometimes a theme just seems to fall naturally into place — such as seasonal recipes. Then there are times when I discover something that sounds so good that I keep looking for variations.
Dave Ramsey: Commerical debt seldom forgiven
“Dave Says" is a weekly column featuring financial advice from nationally syndicated radio host Dave Ramsey. His column is filled with timely, relevant questions and answers taken from actual letters and calls on Ramsey's radio program, “The Dave Ramsey Show.”
Lori Brothers: Let LEGS, three F’s guide exercise
With spring’s arrival often comes the re-commitment to getting more exercise. So the question can arise, “How do I design an exercise program that’s right for me?” Great question.
Sarah Stright-Hartley: Believe it or not, spring is here — so dress for it
It is slowly, slowly starting to warm up around here. But with the spring comes cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons in-between. When I asked recently what people around me were having a hard time with, the answer was repeated over and over — how are we supposed to dress for these days?
Kali Davies-Anderson: No, honey, that is NOT a Q-tip!
I don’t know about you, but no one ever has to tell me twice to eat my plate full of pasta or pizza, nor do they rejoice at the sight of my half eaten brownie or cupcake.
Mitchel Olszak: I like beer, so I’m watching our state closely
I like beer. More to the point, I like good beer. In my younger days, just about any swill would do. But with the passage of time, sophistication and exposure to the possibilities, my interests in beer have sharpened and matured.
