NEW CASTLE — It's award season again, which is basically playoff time for those of us who love fashion and are looking forward to the "Super Bowl" of them all —  the Oscars.

It kicked off over the weekend with the Golden Globes and I loved checking out the fashion that will influence formal wear for the year to come.

I didn't find anything to be outrageous or strange this year, and maybe nothing even too exciting. But still, the six looks that I've shown to the right are the ones that I found to be the most beautiful and flattering to the women wearing them.

Emma Roberts — A simple black dress but in the most flattering way. I love the wider neckline and it fits her perfectly. I also love that she kept everything else very simple with a bit of sparkle at her ears.

Olivia Wilde — I might be biased, but I love a pregnant woman rocking her curves right now. She looks absolutely gorgeous and has that glow that I've been hoping to find for the past eight months! The color of the dress is beautiful on her and I love her simple, yet retro, hairstyle.

Julie Bowen — The contrast of these two colors is just beautiful. I also love the contrast of the fabrics — the velvet on top looks so luxurious and I love the belt at her waist. Her bag also perfectly complements her dress and her hair lets her top shine.

Maria Menounos — This color is so similar to the 2014 Pantone color of the year — radiant orchid — that it was perfect for the red carpet! I adore the cutouts throughout the bodice and how it flows down into the bottom of the gown. She's another woman who kept her accessories simple (I'm sensing a theme here!) and her hair easy and out of her face. The dress is certainly a standout.

Madison Walls — There is something about the pattern and ease of this dress that I love. I also really love the belt at the waist that adds a little bit of contrast to the all over pattern. And the clutch with the dress is perfectly complemented.

Julianna Marguiles — At first I wasn't sure about this dress. But it quickly grew on me with the embellishment on the sleeves and bottom of the dress. The fit is also fantastic because it's fitted at the waist, making her look super tiny but then flows at the bottom — possibly allowing her to eat more at dinner?

Were any of these dresses your favorites? Who had your favorite look of the night?
