NEW CASTLE — Birth
To Taquoya Alvarado of New Castle and Antonio Gardner of New Castle, a daughter on Dec. 31, 2013.
•Robbery. A man told police he had been walking in the 300 block of North Mercer Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when someone hit him multiple times and knocked him to the ground. He said the attacker stole his wallet and ran. The man was treated at Jameson Hospital, police said.
•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 400 block of Galbreath Avenue between 6:20 and 7:10 a.m. Saturday and stole $200 worth of coins, miscellaneous jewelry, a revolver, 16-gauge and 12-gauge shotguns, a 30-inch television, $100 in bills, two deep-sea fishing poles and a .22-caliber rifle.
•Attempted theft. Someone tried to steal scrap metal from railroad cars parked at a CSX railroad terminal at 2 S. Ashland Ave. around 10:20 a.m. Saturday. Police said a man had been seen throwing metal out of the car. Police found nine steel ingots on the ground. A caller said she had confronted the man and he ran.
•Burglary. About 200 feet of copper pipe was stolen from a house in the 600 block of Sumner Avenue between Dec. 16 and Saturday.
•Theft. A black 1998 Cadillac Deville was stolen from the parking lot of Shaffer’s Garage at 422 Taylor St. between 5 p.m. Dec. 23 and 11:40 p.m. Dec. 25.

•W.K. Colford of Chula Vista, Calif., charged by New Castle’s code enforcement department with two counts of weeds, trees and ornamental shrubs violation.
New Castle police charged the following people:
•Gerald Matthew Lack, 67, of New Castle, criminal attempt, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.
•Zachary Alan Glaude, 20, of New Castle, two counts of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked.
•Shawn Allen Currie, 45, of Ellwood City, burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.
