NEW CASTLE

•Attempted burglary. A man walking his dog at 4 a.m. Wednesday told police he had seen two men on a porch in the 200 block of North Ray Street. He said they ran when they saw him. Police recovered two speakers on the side of the house.

•Charged. John Ayersman, wanted on two bench warrants, was encountered by New Castle police about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday behind a Spruce Street business. He will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said, after officers found a plastic bag containing two hypodermic needles, a silver spoon and cotton swab containing suspected drug residue.

•Hit-and-run. Police were told a car hit the driver’s side mirror of a vehicle while the owner was getting out of his car in the 200 block of Crawford Street at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday.

•Cited. Dewon R. Harper, 24, of 406 E. Long Ave., was cited for criminal trespass/defiant trespass after police encountered him in the 300 block of Halco Drive about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Police said Harper is on the Lawrence County Housing Authority no trespass list.

•Cited. Two females told police Kevin D. Taylor, 20, of 1803 Hamilton St., threw a rock at their car and pulled a handgun and pointed it at one of them about 5:30 p.m. July 25. Taylor said the women had gone to the 1800 block of Hamilton Street to harass him. He said he picked up a rock but they drove off before he could throw it. He also said he did not have a gun. Police said he will be charged with simple assault and carrying a concealed firearm without a license.
