On the Record: Today’s births, police items, and district judge reports

•Assault. Police said Thomas John Kaszowski Jr., 31, of 333 Cuba St., allegedly got into an argument with a woman at his home and hit her numerous times with a broom. He is charged with simple assault and harassment.

•Assault. Police charged Tevin Devan Fears, 21, of 928 W. Washington St. with simple assault and harassment after a gun allegedly fell out of his pocket during a domestic dispute on Altman Road around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 19. Police recovered a .38-special revolver and said the woman suffered several cuts and bruises.

•Assault. Marleah G. Matthews, 21, of 650 S. Ray St., is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Police allege she was driving a car from which a juvenile allegedly got out, punched another man, then he got back in the car before they drove away. The incident was reported to have happened at 6 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 800 block of Cunningham Avenue. The juvenile will face similar charges by juvenile petition, police said.

•Burglary. Someone broke into a home in the 500 block of Denver Street and stole cash and a television.

•Hit-and-run. An unknown driver of a gold sedan ran a stop sign at Crawford Avenue and was struck in the passenger’s side door by a car driven by Jeffery Allan Dycus, 52, of 1106 Court St., a witness told police. Dycus, who reported the accident to police, said the other car did not stop after the collision, which occurred at noon Sept. 24 at the intersection of Court Street and Crawford Avenue.

•Burglary. A Nikon D3200 camera was stolen from a home in the 100 block of Chartes Street between Aug. 1 and Wednesday.

•Drug arrest. Joshua Matthew Kline, 26, of 416 Laurel Blvd. was walking on West Pittsburg Road around 6:15 p.m. Thursday when police stopped to talk to him and learned he was wanted on a warrant from Butler County. Officers found a plastic bag of suspected marijuana in the waistband of his pants and a suspected marijuana cigarette in a cigar pack in his pocket. He was lodged in the Lawrence County jail.


•Accident. About 5:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 79, Muddy Creek Township, Butler County. Police said Keith A. Critchlow, 42, of New Castle was northbound, stopped for slowing traffic in the construction zone and struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Steven D. Heinleing, 54, of Girard, Pa. Police said Critchlow suffered a moderate injury and cited for several vehicle code violations.
